tips on job interviews
Hello Hello Hello!

Its SKY BLUE FRIDAY!

How's everyone?
I hope you are great!

Did you take my suggestions into considerations?
so where do you plan to travel to?
can you bring me along?! HAHA!

alright, its still school holidays for secondary school students.
are you bored/rotting/stoning at home?
are you looking for jobs?

let SKY BLUE FRIDAY give you some tips on a successful job interview!

1. Off your handphone or put it silent mode!

2. Do not eat garlic or food that stink your mouth beforehand.
you do not want your interviewer to keep covering his/her mouth and give you the uneasy face when he/she is talking to you.

3. Dress appropriately!
this is very very important because the first impression that you make plays a big part whether you will get the job or not.

An example:

For males.
and for females

TIPS on what to NOT WEAR during interveiw!
-> slippers or sneakers.
-> underwear that is visible.
-> shorts. eg. hot pants.
-> mini skirt.
-> pants that are too low waist.
-> blouses that are too low cut.
invest on 1 or 2 set of 'interview suit' so you will be prepared for an unexpected interview, regardless of when it occurs.

4. Be on time!
sleep early the night before and reach the place 5-10mins earlier to prepare yourself.

5. Greet the interviewer by his/her surname and try to pronounce it correctly.
if you really don't know how to, just say 'good morning/afternoon, sir/ma'am' will do.

6. Wait till you are offered a chair before you sit down.
its rude to sit down before the interviewer 'invites' you to. and you may sit the wrong seat.

7. Stay calm. Be prepared for all kinds of questions.
try to relax and stay calm. look alert and interested, scan the room once and maintain eye contact with the interviewer. listen to the whole question before you answer. you will be embarrassed if you forget the question! so pay attention!

8. Always conduct yourself professionally and if something is beyond your control, show a sense of humour. Be enthusiastic and show it in your replies and body language.
whatever it is, do not show the 'ugly side' of you to the interviewer.

9. Do not answer the interview questions with 'yes' and 'no'
but never give long answers or else people will think that you are long winded!
try not to go over the 60 secs limit.

10. Avoid sensitive topics.
eg. your former job/employer, salary.

11. SAY THANK YOU!
be polite. smile when you say 'thank you'!

and lastly,
a BIG JUICY TIP from me.

Speak confidently.
when you speak confidently, even if you are wrong, people will also think that you are correct because of your confidence level. (you can apply this in red cross too! I tried it a few times and it works! i fooled my friends a few times. XD)

Here's 2 videos.
spend some time on it and it may help you in your job interview!

Reason Why
All of you would have already known that all the bloggers for unichannel are actually Volunteer Instructors, today Turquoise Thursday is here to share with you, why I chose to become one.

When I was in secondary one, I always knew that I wanted to join Red Cross. I like the idea of being in a uniform group, the "one for all, all for one " . The unit I was in to me was a good one. I had great seniors but like any other sec 1s, making friends was a problem. Lucky for me, I had one classmate who was also in Red Cross. Together with her, we made more friends.

All the trainings we had, punishments, camps brought me and my batch mates closer each other. There were nights at camps we would shout loudly when we spot roaches, days went we cried over misunderstandings, laughed non stop over jokes.

Why I really join VI was to give back to the society that gave so much to me. Good friends and even greater memories. There are still days when I would be so lazy to attend it but once I think about the people I'm going to meet, it perks me up, who would want to miss a great laughing session with their mates ?

So readers, if there is something that you really like, never stop doing it. Pass it on.

Turquoise Thursday signing off,
Have a great day. :)

A simple HELLO to my beloved readers! White Wednesday is here again~ XP

Have some pretty cool videos to show you people! One is a Hondo advertisement while the other is Dove.

The Hondo advertisement was not being edited at ALL. Wonder how many times they need to video this down on that day??? :] It was shot at one GO. Woots! Isn't it cool or what?! =)

As for the Dove video, i simply find it AWESOME. The way they helped that ' model ' to make up and followed by the editing. Woosh! I think if she was walking next to me on the street, i will not even know that WAS the model! X>

Lets stay natural alright people?! :b Be true and REAL, that's the way of living! Cheers to life!

Till then, White Wednesday~

You got to choose a choice between what is right and what is easy.

Life without internet
Hello everybody! Rad tuesday again! Question of the tuesday:

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN ON THE WEB?

Well, I'm sure it had been some time/ it will be some time! Now, imagine life without the internet!

.
.
.

Difficult? No more facebook and youtube! Life would be so boring.. not? To face this possible scenario, I have come up with an A-Z list of what to do when the internet dies!

make an Archive of the books in your room
read a Book
Cycle
learn Driving! Only for 18 and above.
Exclaim your love for red cross!
Frisbee
Go to the Gym
Horse-riding
Iron your red cross uniform
do 200 Jumping-jacks
Kill some cabbage and make salad
Leave notes of inspiration in your neighbour's letter box
catch a Movie
Nominate the next Best Actor/Actress for Oscars
O
play the Piano
Queue up for popcorn at the cinemas
Run
Swim
Talk to someone who had a bad day
sing Umbrella by Rihanna
go Vampiring with New Moon
Wash the dishes
watch X-men
sing YMCA
go pass a Zebra-crossing somewhere in your neighbourhood

Now.. Why is O blank? Well because my suggestion for O is what I am currently doing now! I am Overseas! It's good to take a break from our hectic lifestyles. So when the internet is down, just run somewhere else and wind down first! You can consider what sky blue friday has recommended.

So, I hope you are prepared for life without internet!

Love,
Rad Tuesday

Note: I am Overseas not to relax, but to do CIP! I'm painting some rooms in an Orphanage.

Keeping fit
Good evening everybody,it's Sunday!
So it's time for Sunflower Yellow Sunday to blog for UnIChannel!
.
Pardon me for the late update because around evening time,I was out exercising!
And believe me,it's been a long time since I got myself up to exercise!
.
So today,I am going to tell all of you how to keep fit during the holidays!
The holidays are a time to celebrate and boy,do we make the most of it! We eat,we drink and we indulge and then we will end up feeling like bloated whales by the end of the holidays.
But let's not forget after the holidays, all of you will have to get back to Red Cross trainings and you will have to go back to doing Footdrill,Evacuation and Outdoor Activities!
.
For Footdrill lovers, you have to have the stamina to keep doing drills and at the same time,to shout the timings!
For Evacuation lovers, you have to be able to lift casualties!
For Outdoor Activities lovers, you have to love the outdoors and to love the outdoors, you have to be fit enough to enjoy a hike!
.
Therefore, you should keep yourself fit! Especially more so during the holidays when you have more time!
At this point of time,if you feel motivated enough to keep fit during the holidays, you might ask,"BUT HOW?"
So Sunflower Yellow Sunday is here to your rescue!

Firstly,

Exercise!
Get a buddy with you to head on down to the gym and hit the treadmills or those cycling machines!
You can also try to build muscles by lifting weights!
Climb the stairs, take a brisk walk or go for a jog!
.
.
.
Secondly,
Eat well!
Follow a healthy and balanced diet everyday! Make sure that your everyday diet includes lots of fruits, vegetables and protein! You should cut down on junk food and sugar intake!
Never skip meals and eat your breakfast!

Thirdly,
Drink water! Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day!
Drink more especially when you are exercising to keep yourself hydrated!

So hopefully,I've given some useful ways for you to stay fit during the holidays! Who knows? A fitter you will be ready to face Red Cross trainings once the school term starts!

It's time for Sunflower Yellow Sunday to head off but before I go,here's a joke for everyone to enjoy!

So do remember to keep yourself fit during the holidays!

Flood Flood Flood !
Okies..Been a week since I've last post :x

If you are complaining and pouting about how bad your week have been..It can't be as bad as mine yea ?

Let's start to back date from Saturday...

-Thursday : Flood Flood Flood ! + Blister.
-Wednesday : Bad start for Project

Wednesday
Let's start from Wednesday (=
Teacher : Okay ! Let's form to your groups now !
Me : ._. oh shucks..where am I going to get a group when I have no cliques.
*Everyone's done*

In the end..I was forced to join one 'not so good' group. with only 3 members while other groups have 4~5 group members.
Things to take note when choosing JC/POLY : You MUST have a clique to survive in Polytechnic. If not you're most likely going to be alone and having bad time in there.

Thursday

Sigh..I tried to make more friends ._. in order to survive in the polytechnic.
some improvements,A TWEENY WEENY bit closer with my classmates, but there's no way to turn back time since my groupmates are confirmed. Sigh...Really hate my life ..

It was raining Cats and Dogs on Thursday.

Well, It was really bad, So I kinda hope for my close friend who is currently serving the nation to be safe during the monsoon season.

Sigh..So What's the monsoon season about ? SinceAlign Right my I don't study geography(I prefer history as it's more enriching), my definition would be : WINTER IN SINGAPORE )=

Since the start of the monsoon season, it have been raining everyday.
From what I know,EveryDay.

Sunflower Yellow Sunday posted the trailer 2012.
From what I know....since I've not watched the movie...
It's about Singapore getting flooded. Okay.Maybe the world getting flooded and everyone starts to die like little ants ..

Well,my fellow brothers and sisters.
It's becoming an reality. Whatever you see on the big screen had happened.

I'm currently studying at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
One of the richest school and the second oldest polytechnic.Okay.I'm not supposed to do publicity ._.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic, NP Facts.

Fact 1: NP is located on Bukit Timah Hill.
Fact 2: NP has many slopes and 'mountains to climb'
Fact 3: NP has many underground.
Fact 4: NP building's and places are at different sea level.

If you are going to combined all these facts + Raining Cats and Dogs.
This is what you are going to get.

For more flood videos, go to the above channel to watch

1st Picture shows the road getting flooded.

2nd Picture shows the aftermath of the rain.It is supposed to be a pond. But it seems that it became a River. Does this reminds you of Wild Wild Wet ?!

As seen from picture 3,4 and 5. NP has many slopes and etc.

Picture 3 and 4 : That is an canal. Not just any ordinary Canal. It's an 3metres wide, 5 ~ 7 metres deep canal. Totally flooded to the brim.

Picture 5 : Look at that ! It's similar to an waterfall !

video
This was recorded by my school's radio crew.. I got it from facebook (=
Show's the aftermath of the low lying school atrium.

video
THe ceiling...couldn't not withstand the weight of the rain on the ceiling and gave in.
By the way, I got this video from facebook.I'm not that free to record such things :x

There's million of articles and videos out there, waiting to be watched.
Just go ahead and google :" ngee ann flood"

After the rain was over. I went for my CCA training.
It wasn't a Red Cross Weekly training. My own sports training - .-

I got a blister despite wearing 2 socks ! 2 Layers of socks and the friction cause me to have a blister that is the size of a 50Cents Coins !!!!!

Wondering how am I going to train on tuesday .. )=

Signing off
Silver Saturday
